10. Undesirable gases

Fruit treated with 1 methylcyclopropene (1 MCP) is ideally suited for long term preservation using the My Fruit system. However, it is important to switch off the system completely during the 1 MCP treatment. This is because the gases released during the treatment can be harmful to certain components of the CA equipment. To ensure that everything runs smoothly, the following is essential:
• Make sure that the mode of the cold room in which the 1 MCP treatment is performed is
not active“.
• Since the selected mode is “not active“, connected machines will not operate on the
respective cold room. If the machines are also not operating on other cold rooms, the main
switches of the machines can also be set to OFF (off)

In addition, refrigerants, exhaust gases and particulate matter can negatively affect the quality of
the activated carbon in CA machines. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to have as little
contact with these substances as possible. For example, if a leak occurs in the cooling system, it
is important to shut down the machines as soon as possible.

Main switch set to 0 (off)
